Why we do what we do:
Adoptionland.org is a 100% volunteer informational hub maintained by and for adopted people. We compile newspaper articles, investigative reports, and academic research on the real issues adopted people are forced to face throughout their lives. (When it comes to every aspect of adoption, you can’t get any more real than this site.) 100% of all profits from the Adoptionland anthology have been donated to Against Child Trafficking based in Brussels, Belgium, its subsidiaries in India or the USA, or to adoptee rights causes, such as but not limited to deported adoptees, searching parents from overseas, investigations, legal fees, or providing free education to the public on the crisis of adoption trafficking.
We promote the innate human right for every adoptee to have access to their adoption documents and original birth certificates. This innate human right should be granted all over the world. The compilers donate their time to maintain this site, research, investigate, write, and share all aspects of adoption—even their personal stories. Book profits are minimal due to the costs of printing, distribution, the take from retailers/wholesalers, and packaging, handling, and shipping fees. The author of this work has kindly donated her book proceeds to adoptee-centric human rights causes. The author also knows that book sales do not generate a sustainable income since the great majority of any profit goes to the publishing industry.
If you live in the USA, the most beneficial help you can give is to donate directly to Against Child Trafficking in the USA for the purchase of books. A donation of $20 would pay for two books in the United States and part of shipping, handling and packaging costs. A donation of $40 would allow for one book to be shipped overseas to India, Asia or Africa. A gift such as those could pay for the distribution of the book to an isolated adoptee looking for a community, to the citizens most targeted by adoption traffickers—such as indigenous cultures, or a government official who might be willing to listen to adoptees on our concerns which have been regularly ousted from the political discussion. Together we can shift the dynamic.
To obtain justice against the concealed and profitable side of adoption, we desperately need to donate books to investigative journalists, government workers, academic researchers, institutions, students, adopted people, and families of loss—people outside the industry.
Adoptionland: From Orphans to Activists
Adoptees are real people who do not deserve to be stigmatized and persecuted when we request for our adoption documents. We have the legal right to present the hidden side of adoption, and as a consequence, we condemn any harassment of any kind against this human rights effort. Innocent children have been permanently severed from their family unit of birth and legally prevented from potential reunions. This affects not only the adopted person into his/her elder years but generations thereafter. Corrupt adoption facilitators need to finally be held accountable. We are the informed side of adoption. Help us shine the light on the underbelly of the adoption market. Donations go toward educating the public on this concealed history.
