“Imagine your about to have a little one…the love you have for that little one…then imagine somebody outside of your family you don’t even know, making claims on your little one….they don’t like the way you live…and they are going to take your little one by force.  Imagine what the loss is when this is not just your family but your entire community.”

First Light is a 13-minute film independently documenting the work of the Maine Wabanaki-State Child Welfare Truth and Reconciliation Commission (TRC), the first such task force in US history to investigate issues important to Native Americans.

Audience Award Winner: One Nation Film Festival
Official Selection: Durango Independent Film Festival
Aired on Maine Public Broadcasting: November 2015
